Refine your smile
Cosmetic dentistry
Explore options for the appearance of your smile, with your oral health, natural teeth and personal preferences at the centre of the discussion.
International patients receive an individual discussion of suitable options, the amount of natural tooth preparation involved, expected maintenance and realistic time in Istanbul.
What can cosmetic dentistry address?
- Tooth discolouration that cannot be managed by hygiene care alone
- Small chips, worn edges or irregular tooth shapes
- Selected gaps or proportion concerns
- Older restorations that no longer match or function well
- Smile concerns involving several teeth, gums or the bite
An aesthetic concern may have an underlying cause. Tooth wear can be linked to grinding or bite forces; darkening can follow trauma or root canal treatment; uneven gum levels may reflect periodontal issues. Diagnosis comes before material selection.
Cosmetic treatment options
Professional teeth whitening
Whitening can brighten suitable natural teeth without changing their shape. Fillings, crowns and veneers do not whiten in the same way, so existing restorations and the sequence of treatment must be considered. Sensitivity and suitability vary between patients.
Composite bonding
Tooth-coloured composite can correct selected chips, edges, gaps and shape concerns directly. It can be conservative, but it has different staining, wear and repair characteristics from ceramic restorations and requires maintenance.
Porcelain veneers
Veneers cover mainly the front surface of suitable teeth. They may improve colour and form with less coverage than a crown, but they are not appropriate for every bite, heavily restored tooth or severe alignment problem. Some enamel preparation may still be required.
Zirconium and ceramic crowns
Full crowns can rebuild structurally compromised teeth and are sometimes included in wider aesthetic rehabilitation. Healthy teeth should not automatically receive crowns for convenience. Read our guide to zirconium crowns in Turkey.
Orthodontic alignment
Moving teeth can be a more conservative way to address crowding, spacing or bite concerns. Orthodontics may be used alone or before bonding, veneers or crowns to reduce the amount of restorative treatment needed.
How we plan a natural-looking result
Planning may include photographs, digital scans or impressions, shade records and bite assessment. The dentist considers the face, lips, visible tooth display, gum line, tooth proportions and how the teeth meet during function. A natural result often includes subtle variation rather than perfectly identical shapes and maximum whiteness.
For multi-tooth cases, a preview or temporary stage may help assess length, shape, speech and bite before definitive ceramics are completed. The exact method depends on the treatment and is not required in every case.
Conservative treatment matters
Removing tooth tissue is irreversible. A responsible plan compares what can be achieved with whitening, alignment or bonding against the additional coverage of veneers or crowns. Existing disease must be controlled and the long-term maintenance burden understood before elective treatment begins.
Treatment timing for international patients
Simple procedures may require fewer appointments, while ceramic work involves preparation, temporary restorations, laboratory production, try-ins and fitting. Gum treatment, root canal care or orthodontics can lengthen the plan. Do not assume that every smile treatment can be completed safely within a fixed holiday schedule.

What affects cosmetic dentistry costs?
Fees reflect the diagnosis, number of teeth, treatment type, material, laboratory stages, temporary work and any foundational care required. Compare written clinical scopes: a quotation for whitening and bonding is not comparable to one for multiple ceramic restorations.
Maintenance after treatment
- Brush with fluoride toothpaste and clean between the teeth daily.
- Attend routine examinations and professional hygiene appointments.
- Avoid biting hard objects or using teeth as tools.
- Use a prescribed night guard if you clench or grind.
- Expect bonding, whitening and ceramic restorations to have different maintenance needs.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need crowns for a smile makeover?
Not necessarily. Whitening, orthodontics, bonding or veneers may be more conservative for suitable teeth. Crowns are generally considered when full coverage is clinically justified.
Can you copy a celebrity smile?
Reference images can help describe preferences, but tooth shape must suit your face, gums, bite and existing anatomy. The aim is an individual result rather than a direct copy.
How white can my teeth be?
Shade options depend on the treatment and underlying tooth colour. We discuss brightness alongside translucency, neighbouring teeth and your preference. Maximum whiteness is not always the most natural choice.
Can the plan be confirmed before travel?
Records may support a provisional outline. A definitive plan requires an examination and any necessary imaging in Istanbul.
