What does full mouth dental implant treatment mean?

The term describes implant-supported replacement of most or all teeth in one or both jaws. A fixed bridge can be supported by several implants, while a removable overdenture can use implants for added stability. The correct option depends on anatomy, hygiene access, appearance, speech, chewing forces and your ability to maintain the restoration.

Full mouth rehabilitation may also involve keeping suitable natural teeth, using conventional crowns or bridges in selected areas, or treating only one arch. Removing teeth simply to fit a standard package is not an appropriate starting point. Each tooth should be assessed for its prognosis and value within the overall plan.

All-on-4, All-on-6 and individual implants

Terms such as All-on-4 and All-on-6 describe fixed full-arch concepts supported by a specific number of implants. They are useful descriptions, but they should not replace diagnosis. The number and position of implants are influenced by available bone, the length and shape of the arch, expected bite forces, opposing teeth and the planned prosthesis.

Immediate teeth and same-day claims

In selected cases, a temporary fixed bridge may be connected soon after implant placement. This is often called immediate loading or immediate teeth. It does not mean that healing is complete or that the temporary bridge can be used like natural teeth without restrictions.

Immediate loading depends on implant stability, bone quality, the planned distribution of implants and control of biting forces. If these conditions are not met, a removable temporary restoration or a healing period without immediate fixed teeth may be safer. The final bridge is normally considered only after the implants and tissues have been reassessed.

The treatment stages

1. Records and diagnosis

The process starts with your concerns, medical and dental history, clinical examination and suitable imaging. Digital scans, photographs and bite records may be used to plan the position of the future teeth. A three-dimensional scan is commonly required when implant placement is being considered.

2. Restorative and surgical planning

3. Surgery and temporary teeth

Implants are placed using the agreed surgical approach. Extractions or grafting may take place at the same appointment when clinically appropriate. Temporary teeth are provided according to implant stability and the plan discussed in advance. Post-operative instructions, medication and emergency contact arrangements are explained before you leave.

4. Healing and monitoring

Implants require biological healing. The duration varies with the jaw, bone, surgery and individual health factors. Temporary restorations must be protected and cleaned carefully during this period. A local dentist or hygienist may be involved in interim checks when you have returned home.

5. Final bridge or overdenture

After healing is confirmed, new records are taken for the definitive restoration. Try-ins may be used to assess tooth position, speech, appearance and bite. The final prosthesis is fitted only after the required clinical and technical checks have been completed.

How many trips to Turkey are normally needed?

A staged full-arch case commonly requires one visit for surgery and temporary teeth and a later visit for the final restoration after healing. Additional visits can be necessary when preparatory treatment, grafting, complex try-ins or adjustments are required. A responsible itinerary allows time for reviews rather than scheduling the final appointment immediately before a flight.

Remote information can support planning, but flights should not be booked around a guaranteed schedule until the clinical team has reviewed your records. Even then, the in-person examination may reveal findings that change the provisional plan.
